How do you care for a car after ceramic coating?

The first 7 days after ceramic coating application

This is the critical curing period. During this time the coating chemically bonds with the paint, so mistakes now can affect the durability of the protection.

• Do not wash the car for the first 5-7 days.
• Avoid rain and humidity - if possible, keep the car in a garage or under cover.
• Do not apply any waxes or products to fresh ceramic coating.
• Do not touch the paint unnecessarily - even with clean hands.

After this period, the coating is fully cured and ready for normal use.

How do you wash a ceramic-coated car properly?

The two-bucket method

This is the foundation of safe hand washing. Two buckets - one with shampoo and one with clean water for rinsing the mitt - minimise the risk of dragging dirt back across the paint.

1. Pre-rinse the car with cold or lukewarm water to remove loose dust and grit.
2. Wash from top to bottom using a microfibre mitt or wash glove.
3. Rinse the mitt regularly in the bucket with clean water.
4. Rinse and dry with microfibre towels.

Which shampoo should you use?

Use shampoos certified for coated surfaces (coating-safe / pH neutral). Avoid shampoos with wax or "shine boosters" - they can interfere with the hydrophobic behaviour of the coating.

What should you absolutely avoid after ceramic coating?

• Automatic brush car washes - they damage the coating and create swirls.
• Steam washes without proper training - high temperature can weaken the layer.
• Acidic cleaners on the paint - for example degreasers or wheel cleaners splashed onto the bodywork.
• Dry wiping the car without first wetting the surface.
• Applying wax or polish over the coating - it makes little sense and can leave streaks.

How do you maintain the coating long term?

Ceramic booster every 3-6 months

Premium coating keeps its properties for years, but a ceramic spray booster every few months refreshes hydrophobicity and boosts gloss. It is a quick step - spray on a wet car and wipe dry.

Regular washing

A car with ceramic coating is easier and faster to clean because dirt sticks less. Still, regular care matters. Bird droppings, tree sap and industrial dust can weaken the coating if they stay on it for too long.

Inspection and coating renewal

Once a year or every two years, it is worth coming back to the studio for a coating inspection. If needed, the coating can be reactivated without removing the old layer.

What results come from proper care?

A car maintained according to these rules keeps its paint depth, mirror-like gloss and strong hydrophobic properties for the full declared lifespan of the coating - often 5-7 years with premium products.
